Probation in UAE Labour Law


Employers are permitted to put employees on probation under UAE labor law, although the term of the probationary period cannot exceed six months. This means that an employer cannot set a probationary period longer than six months. It is not feasible to be placed on probation twice. The minimum and maximum probationary periods are one to three months each. Employers are not permitted by UAE labor law to place an employee on probation for more than six months or twice. Should an employee decide to leave during their probationary period, they will be required to give a month’s notice in writing.
